Del Monte’s Cooperatives support Mindanao Cooperative Power Summit

The Allied Services and MultiPurpose Cooperative (ASMPC) and the Del Monte Employees and Community Credit Cooperative (DMPI-ECCC) together with over 5,000 cooperative members from all over the Philippines have joined the Mindanao Cooperative Power Summit held last July 9, 2015 at the Atrium Limketkai Center here in the city.

The Mindanao Cooperative Power Summit is an event gathered by various cooperatives around the Philippines to show support and unity for its bid to the Malacanang to run and manage the Agus-Pulangi Hydro Electric Power Plants so as to pull power rates concern down.

The 1Mindanao Energy Cooperative (1MIECOOP), a Mindanao based Cooperatives initiated in pursuit as to acquire the hydroelectric power plants through cooperatives’ ownership.

Honorable Carlos Jericho Petilla, former (resigned) energy secretary keynoted the event with authority and clarity. It was in his speech that the former secretary showed his support that the cooperatives have the competence to acquire, operate and manage the Agus-Pulangi Hydro Electric Power Plants. Meanwhile, Cooperative development Authority chairman Orlando Ravanera, also showed his full support attesting this in his action plans in fulfilling the social contract of the President with the Filipino people.

It was truly a successful event made by the presence of various cooperatives. The place was packed with excitement. But the speedy gesture of Mr. Ulysses Valdehuesa, board director of (DMPI-ECCC) leads his group in cheering, shouting and clapping were all eyes to them prompting the other groups to make their own cheers. It was in them that the place turns out to be so lively and merry.
